Dynasty Four Made Revisions Alone After the Band Quit, with a Guitar and a Computer
A Toronto One-Woman Garage Rock Outfit Packs Three Songs Into Eight Minutes and 18 Seconds
Revisions by Dynasty Four runs for eight minutes and 18 seconds across three tracks. The Toronto garage rock project behind it is now a one-woman outfit. Nikkole Couture writes, plays and sings everything. The EP came out on 22 August 2024 on Enjinn Records, and it marks the point where a band that had just reunited became one person’s project.
Dynasty Four is on our rock and alternative playlist below, filed with the garage and indie acts this desk follows, and the Dynasty Four profile keeps the project’s coverage in one place. Revisions reached BestMusic.News via PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Listen to the EP, then read on.

The tally is small on purpose. Rome’s Bounty opens the EP at one minute and 28 seconds. Queen of the Hipsters follows at two minutes and 49 seconds. Then Yesterday Waits closes it at four minutes and one second, the only track past the three-minute mark.
Who This EP Is For
Revisions by Dynasty Four is for listeners who like their rock short, loud and hooky. Dynasty Four’s own list of touchstones starts with The Strokes and The Beaches, the Toronto rock band. It runs on through The Sounds, Bleachers and the Bangles, and it also takes in video games, Trailer Park Boys, Community and cats. That tells you a lot about the humour in the songs.
The Strokes are more than a reference point here. Couture taught herself guitar in 2004 by working through the White Stripes and Strokes catalogues, and she wrote her first song six months later.
When Obscure Sound reviewed Rome’s Bounty, it heard Love Is All, the Swedish indie pop band, in the track’s mix of peppy rock and punk. Reviewing Queen of the Hipsters, Next Gen Musicians reached for the Bangles and The Sounds and heard a playful 1990s spirit. So fans of fast, melodic garage rock with a sharp lyric are the natural audience.

The Early Response to Revisions by Dynasty Four Started With Rome’s Bounty in December 2023
Rome’s Bounty came out first, as a single on 22 December 2023, and it drew notice quickly. On 5 January 2024, Obscure Sound called it “a gripping, concisely impactful single”. It also noted that Couture handled everything on it, from the instruments to the vocals and the songwriting.
Days later, Dancing About Architecture heard punk as it first sounded, before it hardened into a pose: sped-up, abrasive pop songs. Its review pointed to punchy, staccato guitar riffs and a front line built on swagger and attitude.
Meanwhile, DCxPC Live was hooked from the opening riff. Its reviewer liked the way the song ends abruptly, right when it is getting going. The review also called it garage rock for the ages, the same words Dynasty Four uses as its tagline.
That abrupt ending is deliberate. Couture told Punk Head that a friend played the early demo on repeat for hours, before it even had words. So she wrote the song to feel as if it never ends. She also rewrote its lyrics eight times.
The story starts earlier still. In 2022 Dynasty Four released Revivals, a three-track EP of songs that brought the band back together. The Indie Dock Music Blog covered it in October 2022, when the group was a trio in Toronto’s garage and punk scene.

The Community Around Dynasty Four Spans Ten Years, Three Cities and Two Continents of Garage Rock
By its own account, Dynasty Four has spanned ten years, three cities and two continents. Its first album, Anachronisms, came out in December 2015 with ten tracks. Then Revivals restarted the project in 2022.
Before Revisions, Dynasty Four was heading somewhere bigger. Couture planned a full album called Everywheres, recorded in several places. Then her plans fell apart: the band quit, and much of the rest of her life came apart at the same time. She finished the EP with a guitar and a computer, wherever she could. To do it, she learned to program drums and brushed up on her bass playing.
That is where the community comes in. Couture has said she never wanted to be a solo act, and that friends, family and other solo musicians talked her out of quitting. Yesterday Waits, the closing track, is the most personal song she has written.
The name has its own story, too. Couture studied Egyptology, and Dynasty Four nods to the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt. Meanwhile, song titles such as Champions of Breakfast, For the Cats and Queen of the Hipsters keep the tone light and invite people in.
The next chapter has already started. On 24 September 2026 Dynasty Four released Yes Chef!, the first single from an upcoming album called Imperials. For a listener new to Dynasty Four, Revisions is still the right way in. It holds three songs, eight minutes, and the moment Dynasty Four became one woman’s band.
