Rainbow Coloured Horse: Dru Heath's Country-Trance Single for Country Fans and Club DJs

Euphoric Trance, Cowboy Energy and a Five-Year-Old’s Idea, Released for Country Fans and DJ Sets

Fourteen releases in eighteen months is the tally. Rainbow Coloured Horse is the latest, and also the entry Dru Heath has tagged as country trance. The UK country artist built it from pounding beats, soaring synths and country influences. In his words, it is made for the dancefloor. It came out on 18 September 2026. However, the listeners it suits go well beyond the ones who found him through country-pop singles.

Dru Heath’s Rainbow Coloured Horse sits in the playlist below beside the country, country pop and Americana this desk tracks. His coverage so far is collected on his artist profile. The single reached BestMusic.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news sites. Press play, then read on for who it suits.

Who Rainbow Coloured Horse Is For, From Country Listeners to Trance Fans and the DJs Who Play Them

To begin with, the first audience is the one Heath already has. Since March 2025 he has put out a record roughly every six weeks. Most of them are country and country-pop songs drawn from real life. His official site lists the subjects as love, heartbreak, resilience and hope. In May 2026 he announced Tonight’s the Night as new music with a new sound. He tagged it country music fusion, too. That single then arrived on 12 June 2026. Rainbow Coloured Horse goes further in the same direction, so anyone who followed that turn has an easy way in.

Secondly, there are trance listeners. Heath pairs his country influences with euphoric trance and electronic dance production. That pairing is unusual. Still, trance has a long habit of borrowing melodies from outside dance music. Tiësto took Samuel Barber’s classical Adagio for Strings onto the dancefloor in January 2005. Later, Mixmag readers voted his version the second greatest dance track of all time. Rainbow Coloured Horse makes the same move with country, which gives trance fans a familiar shape with an unfamiliar accent.

Why the Rednex Crowd Will Get the Joke

Thirdly, some listeners want a dance record with a sense of humour. Heath says plainly that the track carries a healthy dose of ridiculousness alongside the cowboy energy. That puts it in a tradition with a famous precedent. In August 1994 the Swedish group Rednex released Cotton Eye Joe. It set the banjo and fiddle of an American barn-dance standard over a Eurodance beat. The single then reached number one in at least eleven countries. Where Rednex leaned on fiddle and banjo, Heath builds his single on euphoric trance with country influences around it. Even so, both records aim at the same moment of a night out. That is when a room is ready to laugh and dance at once.

There is also a less obvious listener. The song began as a game with Heath’s daughter when she was five. As a result, the hook is simple enough for a child to sing back. Parents who have made up songs with their own children will therefore hear something familiar in it.

The Early Response to Rainbow Coloured Horse and the Community Dru Heath Has Built Around His Releases

From the First Teaser to a DJ Pool Listing in Sixteen Days

Before release day, Heath built up to it on YouTube in short steps. On 6 September he posted a teaser. It said the song was never meant to be released, but that it was now happening. A short with the release date followed on 9 September. Then the official video went up on 17 September, the day before the single reached streaming services. Out-now posts followed on release day and again on 23 September.

The clearest early signal came from the DJ side. On 22 September, Digital DJ Pool listed Rainbow Coloured Horse among its new additions as an Original Mix. DJs use the service to source new tracks, and Tonight’s the Night sat on the same list. Its writer hoped the single would reach a few DJ sets. For that hope, this is the right first stop. In other words, the track now sits in front of the people who decide what plays in a club.

The Community Around the Song Starts at Home

The first member of this community is the co-writer of the idea. Heath’s daughter chose the animal, the colour and the sound: a horse, rainbow coloured, going clip clop. He then spent about a year reworking the song until it left the nursery and landed in a nightclub. He has also written that, once released, it would no longer belong only to the two of them.

Beyond the family, the circle is the listeners who follow his singles on YouTube, Instagram and Spotify. His second out-now post also carries an LGBTQ tag beside the country trance tag, which widens that circle again. Meanwhile, the DJ pool listing points the song at a different group: the people who play records to strangers.

From the BestMusic.News Curator Team: “What this desk notes is the release rhythm. A steady run of singles trains an audience to check back. This one rewards the habit with the widest swerve in the catalogue so far. A hook simple enough for a five-year-old rarely shares a record with a beat big enough for a club set. That overlap is what decides how far it travels.”
